Favorites
I went to the grocery store and stocked up on some of my favorite healthy foods/snacks.  These are all "staple foods" that I ate when I lost the 12 pounds in the fall while attending WW meetings:

Sugar free Jello cups (60 cal)
Thomas lite multi-grain english muffins
Dannon Lite'n'Fit yogurt (a must have)
Better'n'Eggs egg substitute (great for recipes with eggs)
fat free beef hot dogs
pineapple chunks or tidbits (aside from watermelon, the only fruit I can tolerate)
fat free turkey breast
Bran flakes (Wal-mart GV brand taste better and cost less than Post)
low carb flour tortilla (super high in fiber, very good to make a breakfast burrito)
Bush vegetarian baked beans
veggies (cauliflower, cukes, peppers, mushrooms, etc.)
fat free mayo
Smart Beat squeezable spread (butter in a bottle)
light grape juice
sugar-free bread (Old Tyme wheat) or Wonder white whole grain (both of these have the texture of "real" bread)

Share some of your favorite healthy foods!

OOPS!  I originally posted this as a comment on kaybee's entry.  I hope I've got it right this time.

Hi everybody! I'm really glad to find a group of horse folks that have similar fitness goals.

Hmmm...me...I'd like to lose 40-50 lbs. over the next year or so. Started WW in Aug. 2006, lost 12 lbs. by October, wasn't able to make the meetings consistently due to work commitments (I'm a middle school teacher), gained it all back by the new year. I'm definitely a stress eater.  As for diet--high fiber, low sugar, less JUNK, more H20...

Also, I'd like to improve my fitness level. I'm beginning to see a steep decline in my flexibility and wind.  Exercise? I'm lazy!!! I like to ride, and that's about it...I've got to get over that. There really is no reason I can't do SOMETHING for a half-hour per day.

I have 2 horses of my own (19 yo TB and 11 yo BSPaint), and I board my boyfriend's daughter's pony (12 yo grade QHx). At 37, I'm a dressage newbie (change from hunter/pleasure), and coming along slowly...getting fit and getting the weight off will help a great deal.

Welcome to a new forum for COTHers wanting to "get fit."

Once you join the community, you can start posting.

By way of introductions, I post as "KayBee" on the forums, and am looking to reduce my posterior so that I can have more options in purchasing a used saddle. I've wanted to get in better shape for a while, but this is what's motivating me right now.

In the past, I was successful at shedding inches/pounds with Atkins and by going to the gym fairly frequently. I wasn't so successful in maintaining the loss and gained it all back. I've managed to go down a pants size since September of 2006 (when I started riding), but haven't done much more than that.

My "diet" regime (for the past 5 days) is basically avoidance of white sugar/flour (ie, "bad" carbs). Also, I need to increase how much water I drink.
My exercise regime is erratic. I'm trying to improve core strength by using Pilates bands (doing sit-up type moves in reps of 10x3). Ideally, I will do this every day; I have not been consistent, however (to put it mildly).  I also purchased a Self magazine "butt" DVD and did it for the first time yesterday. My goal is to use that 3 to 4x per week.

I'm a horseless re-rider and take lessons 2x a week. I freelance, though, so when I'm not working, I try to take more lessons.

That's me, in a nutshell. Feel free to introduce yourselves!
